Company Commitment

Kinsale Energy Limited has a commitment to make health, environmental and safety (HES) performance a top priority.
The company sets HES goals which, in many cases, exceed statutory and regulatory requirements.

Our Health, Environment and Safety Policy states:

“We are committed to environmental protection and emphasise to the extent practical: resource conservation and the minimisation of wastes, emissions, and releases throughout our operations.

Our operations will also be monitored for compliance with applicable HES legislative and regulatory requirements through periodic reviews and audits.”

Policies and Practices

Policies and practices are adopted by Kinsale Energy to ensure that environmental protection is managed as an integral part of our business.

Our HES Management System (HSEMS) covers the three areas of Health, Environment and Safety and is based upon the requirements of internationally accepted standards for Environmental Management Systems (I.S. EN ISO 14001:1996) and for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OHSAS 18001:1999) and is structured around 16 core elements that are aligned with a continuous improvement cycle of Plan-Do-Check/Correct-Review.

Our Environmental Aspects are reviewed annually as part of the Annual HSEMS Risk Assessment process to ensure all potential impacts on the environment are identified and suitable controls are put in place to minimise any potential impact on the environment in which we operate.

Environmental risks are addressed for drilling activities, new capital projects or modifications to design using formal assessment procedures. Procedures and controls are regularly reviewed to ensure that project design, construction, operations and decommissioning will not cause unacceptable environmental impact.

Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is carried out for activities that involve major offshore or onshore projects.

Emergency Procedures

Although the risk of an accident or event that may affect the environment is very small, KEL maintains comprehensive Emergency Procedures describing the actions that should be taken in the event of an incident. Regular drills are undertaken to test these procedures.
